Energy Works

Children at Coldham Wind Farm
Energy Works is a Cambridgeshire Environmental Education Service (CEES) initiative based at Coldham Wind Farm near March. Its unique energy education programme promotes the benefits of environmentally-friendly sources of energy in a fun and entertaining manner.
The project is being run in partnership between CEES and Britain's largest farmer - the Co-operative, ScottishPower Renewables and Fenland District Council.
The wind farm generates enough electricity to power homes across Fenland.
Educating future generations
Energy Works is an educational resource for schools and community groups, giving young people the opportunity to see first hand how natural and renewable resources can be used to generate electricity.
Energy Works combines classroom-based learning with short assignments and hands-on activities, to provide a fun learning experience and an insight into modern farming.
Cllr Peter Murphy, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Environment at Fenland District Council said, "Energy and food are two of the most important issues facing the world today, and it is important that local people, particularly children, have a well-rounded understanding of the problems we all face in the future."
Open day
Over the summer, Coldham Wind Farm hosted a special open day to promote its Energy Works programme, enabling families to come along and join in a host of activities. Visitors also had the opportunity to learn more about support for renewable energy in homes, recycling and composting, and food production.
